Job Description
The Role Reporting to the Digital Learning Solutions Quality Enhancement and Standards Manager, the Quality and Standards Specialist is responsible for carrying out comprehensive quality control (QC) testing to ensure digital learning assets function as designed and meet learning development standards. The specialist also provides feedback to developers on how to enhance the quality of digital solutions, partners with DLS development managers to understand capacity and utilization data, helps write and maintain department procedures and learning specifications and helps manage change across the department. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive quality control testing of digital learning assets (courses, assessments and other learning solutions) using the universal testing checklist to ensure assets function in the Learning Management System (LMS) as designed and work correctly in assistive technologies like JAWS and NVDA screen readers
Record and retain quality test results
Provide feedback to developers on how to remediate QC failures and enhance the quality of digital solutions
Consult with development managers on how to use the Book of Work and DLS Tracker successfully to support capacity planning
Write and maintain department-wide policy and procedure documentation
Support the change management process to manage DLS-wide change initiatives
Meet with vendors, learning partners and other interested parties to explain learning development standards
Bachelor's degree in instructional design, computer science, computer engineering, or related field
2+ years of experience in production support, software development or quality control
Knowledge of Captivate, Storyline or other learning development tools
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visio, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Jira
Knowledge of software development cycle and quality assurance methodologies
Strong problem solving, analytical skills, due diligence and attention to details
Ability to effectively juggle multiple priorities/projects and enjoy work in a fast-paced environment
Team player and work collaboratively as well as able to work independently and manage one’s time effectively
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Discretion in working with sensitive/confidential information
Experience working in an agile environment a plus
Knowledge of accessibility standards based on W3C WCAG 2.0 as well as compliance with ADA section 508 (preferred)
Experience testing applications using assistive technologies, such as JAWS or NVDA (preferred)
Demonstrated ability to successfully give and receive feedback at all levels of the organization
